Masterplan, Urban and Street Design, Superblock Concept
The purpose of this work was to contribute to the discussion on the development of prefabricated
housing estates by recognizing universal design principles derived from the superblock concept.
The superblock will provide a well-defined layout consisting of networks for active mobility, vehicles, and parking.
The proposal suggests the establishment of four mobility hubs within the Superblock, with direct connectivity to
the main road network. These hubs would provide parking for over 1,000 vehicles. Strategically located in proximity
to public transport stops, the hubs would also facilitate car and bike sharing options. The necessary traffic
is regulated and directed along one-way routes, ensuring that it does not disrupt the flow within the superblock.
The public transport system consists of tram and bus routes in the perimeter streets. However, not all perimeter
streets are served by public transport. The proposal includes the introduction of new bus routes and stops in the
southern and eastern parts of the perimeter. On the south side, the new stop will be located at the mobility hub,
while on the east side, it will be situated close to the important intersection in the interior of the superblock, on
the main axis.
